What exactly does the Ellacuria Ministry Committee do?
Here are notes from our August 6th meeting:
- Reviewed our monthly budget report. As of July 27,
the balance in the Ellacuria Fund is $12,663.98. Thank you to all parishioners who donated through the recent Combined Collection. We have not had any recent requests for financial assistance from the Ellacuria community since the well project, but we are in a good position to help them as they need it.
- Made preparations for the September 12-13 Fair Trade Sale.
Profits from the sales of coffee, chocolates and olive oil all go to the Ellacuria Fund.
- Approved a $500 contribution to the Association of Communities for
the Development of Chalatenango (CCR) which provides services and programs to many communities in El Salvador, including Ellacuria.
- Discussed the status of the well project in Ellacuria. Our latest
communication was that the community is having the water tested for safe drinking and installation of a pump to direct the water to the community’s distribution system. They are very thankful for the financial assistance provided by Good Shepherd for this critical addition to their water supply.
- Reviewed plans for a display of memorabilia from Ellacuria to be
installed in Daniels Hall.
- Discussed the intention to send a delegation to Ellacuria, probably in
the fall of 2027. More details will be provided as plans are solidified.
