Greening Up in the New Year By Mary Kult When we think of the New Year, there is an adage that says, “Out with the old, in with the new.” If you have a favorite item of clothing that is too worn, yet holds some sentimental memories, you might want to go “To Hell and Back.” This store in the historic third ward will mend and/or recreate those special pieces of clothing back into like new treasures. If you have Jeans with just too many holes in them, recycling them is a good green option, especially since clothing is not biodegradable and they would be sitting in a landfill for who knows how long. St Vinnies will recycle clothing into more usable items, particularly rags used by car mechanics. For the New Year let’s find how many ways we can incorporate being green into our daily lives.
