Social Justice Corner: Ellacuria Ministry Year-End Report

Ellacuria Ministry Year-End Report Submitted by Ron Leonhardt Thanks to the continued generosity of Good Shepherd parishioners and the volunteer efforts of our committee members by supporting our Fair Trade sales and donating to the Combined Giving Campaign, we were able to provide the following financial support to the community of Ignacio Ellacuria in El Salvador in 2023: $3,346: electrical and roof repairs to the women’s community building. $2,275: improvements to the Childrens’ Wellness Center. $395: exterior and interior painting of the school. $229.50: a large canvass-printed photograph of Good Shepherd church. As of December 4, 2023, the balance in our dedicated fund was $8471. We are expecting a large request for funds this year as the community is hoping to dig a well to supplement their mountain stream water supply. Our solidarity support included the visit to Ellacuria by 5 members of our ministry in October. All expenses for this trip were incurred by the delegates.
