Adult Confirmation

If you have received the sacraments of Baptism and First Communion, but never had a chance or got around to getting confirmed, this is your opportunity. Along with Baptism and First Communion, Confirmation is the third of the sacraments of Initiation. A review of our Catholic Faith tradition is covered in a group comprised of candidates like yourself and sponsors. The sessions are offered with area churches. The preparation sessions typically are held January through March, culminating in the celebration of the sacrament at the Cathedral with other adults throughout the Archdiocese who have also been preparing. This is an opportunity to renew your faith and receive the particular graces that come with this sacrament.

While the actual schedule vary year to year, it comprises the following:

  • 10 sessions that may be held at Good Shepherd or at the collaborating parishes of St James or St. Agnes
  • An opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Attending Mass and learning about parish life.
  • Confirmation at the Cathedral with others who have prepared for adult Confirmation (date determined yearly, but usually in May.)
