Happy Are the People God Has Chosen
Do you feel chosen to be “God’s own”? What in your life reminds you that you are chosen and called by God? This week’s readings contain a number of challenges for us as believers, calling us to step up and be prepared. Psalm 33 reminds us that as we focus in prayer and needs on God, God also focuses on us. The verses selected from the psalm on this 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time sing the praises of God who from heaven looks out for the chosen people. Remember, heaven is where God is, Holy Ground, above us, around us, within us. And, as we live in this time of waiting and preparation for the kingdom of God, we hope.
Shout joy to God, lovers of justice, how right to praise!
Blest the land whose God is the Holy One,
the heirs whom God has chosen.
God keeps a loving eye on all who believe,
on those who count on God to bring relief from famine,
to rescue them from death.
With all we are, we wait for God, our help, our shield.
Our hearts find joy in the Holy One; we trust God’s holy name.
Love us God! We wait for you.
