An Introduction to Bereavement Ministry

One of the most universal life experiences is grief, as everyone – sooner or later – experiences loss. How can we, as parish leaders, best respond to those who are grieving? How do we comfort those who mourn? How might our parishes better become communities of care?

Join us for the first session of a series, An Introduction to Bereavement Ministry, on either Thursday, May 15 or Saturday May 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Both sessions are identical, and will be held virtually via Zoom. This session will cover introductory concepts about grief and loss, and dive into the components of effective parish bereavement ministry.

Please be sure to register, as a link and handouts will be emailed 24 hours in advance to participants.

Additional sessions will be held throughout 2025, both virtually and in-person, and will cover how to lead bereavement support groups, grief and the holidays, specific losses, suicide and traumatic deaths, and praying with those who mourn.
