Rest in Peace, Bishop Gumbleton

We mourn Bishop Thomas J. Gumbleton who gave us inspiration for 94 years and passed away this April 4th. Bishop Gumbleton was outspoken for peace and justice all over the world. He was a founding member of Pax Christi USA and Bread for The World. Additionally, Bishop Gumbleton has been outspoken in support of the LGBTQ community for 34 years. Bishop Gumbleton opened his mind and his heart when he learned one of his nine siblings was gay. He spent the next years of his life pushing to move theologians, pastoral ministers, and church members to extend a friendly and welcoming hand to the LGBTQ community. He saw the issue as a matter of justice. We have lost a kind, gentle, yet strong advocate. Gay and Straight in Christ will pray for continued support from Bishop Thomas Gumbleton who, I am sure, sits at the feet of Jesus.
