Your Support Promotes Leadership in Ellacuria

Submitted by Ron Leonhardt

The Ellacuria Ministry Committee has approved a $1,000 donation to the Association of Communities for the Development of Chalatenango (CCR). CCR was founded by communities that repopulated the department of Chalatenango (similar to a state in the US) from the Mesa Grande refugee camp in Honduras, including the community of Ignacio Ellacuria, after the civil war in El Salvador. Today it comprises over 100 communities and promotes grassroots community organizing, education, leadership training, social struggle, civic participation, and empowerment. Together, they seek economic, social, political and cultural development, the protection of natural resources, gender equity, and the democratic transformation of the country. CCR’s activities and programs directly benefit our sisters and brothers in Ellacuria.

We thank the members of Good Shepherd and St. James for the support of our Fair Trade Sales and other donations that make our financial contributions possible.
