Stewardship 2024 Ministries Witness: Patrick Young
My name is Patrick Young, and I am a member of Pastoral Council. I am 34 years old and grew up in Germantown and have been involved with Good Shepherd community service projects like Group Workcamp and other Human Concern projects with my family. My Catholic faith has always been important to me, and over the last several years I have looked for new ways to use my talents to serve God and Good Shepherd parish. I am currently proclaiming God’s word as a reader at Mass and serve on Pastoral Council, for which I have had to take a leap of faith and go out of my comfort zone to try something new. I have Down Syndrome, so these ministries are challenging for me, and I work with my dad, Brian, and step-mom, Kathy, to continue building the skills I need to serve on these ministries. I love my involvement and find it very rewarding, because I am able to continue learning new ways to share my faith with others. I also am able to build my knowledge and understanding of God’s word through my focus on the readings that I read at Mass.

Maybe it’s creating a new personal habit or an opportunity at Good Shepherd. Next weekend, Dec 16-17, we will host a Christmas cookie hospitality in Daniels Hall to celebrate how God is calling us to become “Saints of Good Shepherd.”
