Greetings from El Salvador

Dear valued brothers and sisters, friends at Good Shepherd, greetings to you all, and wishing you all success in your daily work; may God’s presence always be with you every moment of every day.

Currently it’s the rainy season in our country, but the weather this time is worrying our community because there are so few storms, well knowing that we have El Niño this time around.

The reality is that with this dry period there will be deficient supply in our water system, because the places where water would fill up and be stored aren’t absorbing much rainwater. This indicates that there will be very little water for us.

The Directiva and Water Committee have analyzed the situation, and we see that one method to resolve this problem is to drill a well, but for this the cost is very high. We’ve gotten quotes on prices, and per-meter-drilled, it would cost $175; this indicates that if the water is down 100 meters deep, it would cost us $17,500 plus the $500 fee for an engineer to locate the spot to drill where there is water. The total expenditure would be $18,000.

The community is writing this so that you understand our situation, and if it’s at all possible, we would be grateful for assistance in the knowledge of your love and concern for us as a community.

May God bless and prosper you and guard you wherever you may go. As always we keep you in our prayers. Many hugs across the miles, and we await you here with open arms.

Sincerely,

The Ellacuria Community
