Be Aware of Spam Emails Claiming to Be Parish Staff or Priests

It seems about once every 6-8 weeks, spam (or phishing) emails get sent to some of our parishioners claiming to be Deacon Sandy or one of our priests. Please know that Deacon Sandy or any of our priests will NEVER reach out to you with an obscure email for help (seeking gift cards/money of any kind, personal information, passwords, bank information or asking you to email or call them with no other context.)
Experts say to never reply to these emails, nor click on any attachments in the email.
Some ways to spot a spam email:

  • Sent by a phony email address incorporating the name of the person or Good Shepherd in the address
  • Grammatical or spelling errors
  • Odd wording that seems suspect

You can always call the office if an email seems suspicious.
