Ellacuria—A Year in Review

Submitted by Ron Leonhardt

2022 has not been easy for the people of Ellacuria, El Salvador. As they continue to fight COVID-19, the country has been inundated by hurricanes and heavy rains, damaging crops and infrastructure. They live under the State of Exception with many civil rights suspended. And their community truck, their only mass transit vehicle, has needed expensive repairs to continue to operate.

Through November 7th, Good Shepherd has raised $4,499 this year through Fair Trade Sales, Combined Collections, and donations. We have donated $3,050 for truck repairs, $1,000 to the Center for Exchange and Solidarity for legal assistance needed due to the State of Exception and $500 to SHARE, the organization that coordinates delegations to and from Ellacuria. In addition, $1,693 has been raised on Mission Appeal Weekend and will be sent to Ellacuria.

Thank you for your generosity. Please continue to pray, advocate, and financially support the Good Shepherd Ellacuria ministry.
